Note about the 'Nation of Islam' ('Black Muslims')
"What about the Moslem/Muslim Koran
(also spelled Qu'ran),
the religious book of Islam? Is that inspired by God?"
Chapters in the Koran are called Suras.
It is important to be aware of a significant difference between verse numbers in the Bible and verse numbers in the Koran: Verse numbers in the Bible are fixed, i.e., no matter which translation you use, the verse numbers are in the same place. This is not so with the Koran. In other words, if you use Koran translation ABC, a particular section of text might be in Sura 5, verse 150. if you use translation XYZ, the same text might be in Sura 5, verse 148 or 153. Hence, when an article such as this Web page cites a particular verse, if you look it up you may have to read several verses before or after to find the text.
"Aren't Jehovah of the Bible and Allah of the Koran the same God?"
DON'T BE MISLED: The Koran
gives the impression that Jehovah of the Bible and Allah of the Koran are one
and the same, that "Allah" is simply another name for "Jehovah".
Moslems sometimes point out -- truthfully -- that Christian
translations of the Bible into Arabic refer to the God of the Bible as "Allah"
"Allah" is the Arabic word
for "God". Jewish and Christian
translations have to
refer to the God of the Bible as "Allah" because there is no other
word in Arabic.
The Koran claims that the angel Gabriel wrote
down the words of the Koran and gave them to Mohammed.
Paul's gospel is simple: Jesus Christ was crucified, dead,
and buried. The third day He arose from the dead. He ascended into
heaven. He is Lord, God, and our one and only Savior. He will come
again in glory to judge the living and the dead and He will directly rule the
world forever.
Galatians 1:6-9 [6] I am astonished that
you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and
are turning to a different gospel-- [7] which is really no gospel at all.
Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert
the gospel of Christ. [8] But even if we or an angel from
heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be
eternally condemned! [9] As we have already said, so now I say again: If
anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be
eternally condemned!
John 3:16-18 [16]
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not
send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through
him. [18] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not
believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's
one and only Son.
The New Testament clearly and repeatedly
says (in the words of the Apostles' Creed) that Jesus Christ was crucified,
dead, and buried. The third day He arose from the dead . (Also see
all four Gospels.)
1 Corinthians 15:3-8
" [3] For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ
died for our sins according to the Scriptures, [4] that he was
buried, that he was raised on the third day according to
the Scriptures, [5] and that he appeared to Peter, and then
to the Twelve. [6] After that, he appeared to more than five
hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living,
though some have fallen asleep. [7] Then he appeared to James,
then to all the apostles, [8] and last of all he appeared to
me also, as to one abnormally born."
Koran Sura (Chapter)
4 verse 157 "But they killed him [Christ]
not nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them. They
killed him not. Nay, God raised him up unto himself."
The Koran expressly says that Christ was
neither crucified nor killed by some other means. God raised him directly up
into Heaven, (as He did with Elijah). The Koran claims that
God participated in a fraud or delusion on the witnesses.
The New Testament says that Jesus is Lord and God:
John 10:30 "I and
the Father are one."
John 10:24-25 [24] The
Jews gathered around him, saying, "How long will you keep us in suspense?
If you are the Christ, tell us plainly." [25] Jesus answered, "I
did tell you, but you do not believe."
John 14:9 "...
Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. ..."
Koran Sura
5 verse 78 "Christ, the Son of Mary, was no more than an apostle."
See: The
Trilemna: Lord, Liar, or Lunatic
Koran Sura
5 verse 75 "They do blaspheme who say God is Christ, the Son of
Mary."
Islam and the Koran
deny the Triune nature of God.
Koran Sura 5:72-73 [72] Certainly they disbelieve who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help. [73] They disbelieved who say: Allah is one of three (in a Trinity): for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous chastisement will befall the disbelievers among them.
Simply put, the Moslem Koran
directly contradicts
the Bible |
"But Moslems have told me that Islam believes in
the Bible. They study the Bible."
This is a common claim of religions such as Islam, Mormonism,
and Roman Catholicism: "We believe and study the Bible."
There is something very important to realize in this
discussion: The average person who considers himself Protestant really isn't
very knowledgeable about what mainstream Protestant Christianity or his
particular denomination actually teaches. In
the same way, the average Moslem, Mormon, and Roman Catholic doesn't really know
the specific teachings of his
religion either! Oftentimes, an individual saying "We
accept the Bible" honestly believes he is saying the truth
and honestly believes that he is correctly presenting his religion's
position.
However, the truth is that when you examine the
beliefs and doctrines of Mormonism, Islam, and Roman Catholicism
they all have one thing in common: They add doctrines that
contradict the Bible, usually claiming they "have been led by the Holy
Spirit" or by "an angel of God."
Islam and Christianity agree that the
original Bible (including the New Testament), is correct, i.e., the
Scriptures as revealed to God's prophets by the Holy Spirit. (Catholics
claim that the Apocrypha are also scripture; Protestants deny this.)
The dispute is that Christians believe that the
original Bible (Old and New Testaments) has come down to us essentially as
written and reveals all that is necessary to be saved. If
that is true, then there was no need for God to give any
additional information, and hence, Mohammed is a false prophet. On the
other hand, Islam teaches and Moslems believe that
the text of the original Bible has been severely distorted, mainly for political
reasons, and that therefore, it was necessary for God to send another
prophet, Mohammed, to correct the errors.
Hence, although Moslems claim to believe in the
Bible, what they mean is "We believe in those portions of the
Bible that agree with the Koran, but we consider anything that
conflicts with the Koran to be a copyist's error or distortion and
not the word of God."

CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF
Feel free to not just take blindly accept the claim that the Koran conflicts with the Bible. Feel free to check it out for yourself: THAT'S WHAT I DID. I didn't just reject the Koran, the Book of Mormon, and Roman Catholic teachings because some preacher said they were false -- I CHECKED THEM OUT. Look up the Suras and verses yourself:

But remember! Unlike the Bible, Koran Sura and verse numbers vary a bit from one translation to another.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE 'NATION OF ISLAM'
Although, for reasons stated above, I believe that Islam is
not the one true religion I do not want to encourage false beliefs about the
teachings of Islam.
In the United States, a religion has arisen that goes by the
name "Nation of Islam", or Black Muslims. Its most widely known
advocate is Minister Louis Farrakhan, who organized the "Million Man March"
in the mid-1990's.
This religion claims that Elijah Mohammed, who lived in the
mid-1900's, was a prophet of Allah. The Nation of
Islam is not
Islam. Elijah Muhammad taught: (a) there is no life after
death, (b) there is no Hell, (c) there is no physical resurrection
after physical death, and (d) Allah came to earth as a man in the person of
W. Fard Muhammad.
To anyone who believes in the Koran
and the teachings of Mohammed, prophet of Allah, these teachings are blasphemy.

"Islam".
