He Is Able

"I know thy works: behold; I have set before thee an open door, anit no man can shut it: for thou host a little strength, and hast kept thy word, and hast not denied my name" (Rev. 3:8).

These words spoken by Jesus to the Philadelphian church hold forth great hope for you and me in these troubled times. I believe this to be true, because these words were spoken specifically to the true church of this day. In these last days of closed doors, Jesus has opened the door of opportunity to preach the gospel to the world. Jesus is the one who spoke these words, and He is well able to follow through with every promise He makes.

1. BECAUSE HE IS THE ALL-POWERFUL ONE

Jesus said here that when He opened a door, "no man can shut it." Many doors of this life open and then shut again, leaving us standing and staring at the closed door In sorrow, heartache, and bewilderment. The door of youth opens with all its promises, but must soon yield to the responsibilities of middle age, then to old age, and then to death. But, Jesus opens some doors to us that no man can close, even today.

2. BECAUSE HE IS THE PROVIDER OF SALVATION

Through His atoning work at Calvary, Jesus made a way for all of us to be forgiven of our sins, to be born again, and to be reconciled to God. This is a door opened to every human being, no matter who they are or what they have done. Jesus said, "Whosoever will, let him come and take of the water of life freely" (Rev. 22:17). Jesus has set before you this open door. Walk through and enter into the safety that is just inside the door. You will find rest unto your weary soul (see Matt. 11:29).

3. BECAUSE HE LOVES ALL PEOPLE

Never before in the history of mankind has there been as great an opportunity to go forth into the fields that are ripe unto harvest. There are multitudes of lost souls out there on the broad road to hell that need to hear the message of salvation. We who are saved, and know the value of a soul, need not pass them by, but should go and reach out a helping hand to rescue these perishing souls. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son" (John 3:16).
