"This month shall be unto you the beginning of months
*(Exôdo 12:2)
In the past year we have all had our good days and our bad days. There are things we wish had never happened. There are good memories, and there are bad ones. But, what is done is done, and we can
*t change the past. We can, however, look ahead into the new year and do all we can to make it a happy year for ourselves and those around us. There is a great advantage to getting off to a good start. Let*s start this new year:WITH A NEW BIRTH1.
I hope that everyone who reads these lines will determine in his or her heart to make sure that they have been born again. There is no other way. This is a must if you intend to make heaven your home. Old things pass away, and all things become new with the new birth (see 2 Cor. 5:17). Give your heart to Jesus and start this new year with a new birth into a new family
- - the family of God.WITH A NEW HOPE2.
These are times of hopelessness so far as this world is concerned. World conditions give us no hope of better things ahead. There is war, economic chaos, and moral collapse all around us. Even most of our churches are cold and lifeless, and the home life is all but gone. So, where is new hope? This hope is in the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. What hope has anyone apart from the atoning work of Jesus Christ? Thank God we can face today, tomorrow, and even eternity with a shout of glory because He is our hope!
3. WITH A NEW HOME IN VIEW
Inflation has made it almost impossible for most people to own a home in our present day. Many are not even able to rent a decent place to live, and many will lay on cold streets tonight. This is a tragedy in a world that is really able to feed and clothe everyone. Oh! If we could Just get them to Jesus! Everyone that comes to Him receives a new birth, a new hope, and a new home that is paid for and tax and rent free forever! Please, as you start this new year, come to Jesus!
3. LOOKING FOR FUTURE JOYS
The Christian way is a way of joy. There is joy even in times of trouble. The joy of the Lord is our strength (see Neh. 8:10). This joy is brought about by the presence of the Lord in our hearts, but there are future joys that far surpass anything here. One day we will enter into the joys of heaven, joys that are so great that our minds cannot take them in now. Keep on keeping on. It will be worth every mile of the trip.
