I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the
house of the LORD
(Psalms 122:1)
Most of our great Americans have been church-going people. All of the great people of the Bible were church-going people. When there is a decline in church attendance, the morals of the nation go downward, and lawlessness increases. Benjamin Franklin said, "If the world is so bad with religion, what would it be without it?" Abraham Lincoln said, "Take all of the Bible you can on reason and the rest by faith, and you will live and die a better person." Theodore Roosevelt said, "I need my church to feed my soul and refresh my spirit."
1. THE
OPEN DOOR OF THE CHURCHThere is no excuse for any person in America not going to church. There are millions of church buildings all across these great United States. Their doors are open, their steeples point toward heaven, and many, many good preachers are heralding out the gospel of Jesus Christ, while millions of saved people wait with an extended hand of love and fellowship. Oh, please don
't let this God-given opportunity to meet with God and His people pass you by.2. THE OPPOSITION OF THE DEVIL
Satan will continually try to get those who are regular In church attendance to give up attending church or at least to stop being so faithful. There will be many who will fall by the wayside due to his efforts. There will be many difficulties to walk through, but don
*t give up church attendance. Jesus is praying for you, and so are your friends and loved ones. Church worship will help you as nothing else will.3. THE OBVIOUS DESTINATION
Heaven is the goal of the Christian. Saved people have found out that this world, and all that is in it, is passing away. The church steeple, towering high above our heads, is pointing toward our heavenly home. The singing, the teaching, and the preaching are constant reminders of who we are and where we are headed. We will profit greatly from regularly attending church.
